The most trusted Automatic Activation Device on the market, the CYPRES 2 is available in several different models. Each was designed to meet the needs of specific users (expert skydivers, students and tandem jumpers):

• For units since January 1st  2017- service life is 15.5 years
• Maintenance recommended*
• If services are done, you have a complete updated device with all applicable adjustments, improvements and new features every 5 years

*For this longer service life Cypres offers a maintenance at 5 years and 10 years after date of manufacture. The units will remind their users.

This service is recommendable because it corrects wear and tear, fixes defects, provides improvements, adds new features, integrates better handling solutions, establishes applicable adjustments to new developments in skydiving, supplies applicable adjustments to changed conditions of the environment, contains all applicable hardware upgrades and includes all applicable software updates.

The Changeable MODE CYPRES 2 is the next step in AAD technology and combines the CYPRES proverbial “Reliability Made in Germany”  with the desire for enhanced application flexibility.

The CHANGEABLE MODE CYPRES 2 makes purchasing an AAD simple for instructors and/or dzos. One model will fit any system. The Changeable Mode Cypres 2 will allow you to easily switch modes on the AAD for whatever type of gear you need to use it in. This means you can use it a tandem rig, student rig, use it in speed mode, or simply use it in expert mode simply by pushing the button. The unit clearly displays what made you are in provides safe setting features. Available in 1-pin or 2-pin models.

The CHANGEABLE MODE CYPRES 2

You can switch between the modes (Expert - Student - Tandem - Speed) on your own. E.g. this is helpful for swapping units between sport, tandem and student rigs. A sophisticated handling procedure for the Mode Change prevents from an unintentional setting. All handling is fully identical to all other CYPRES.

 When the unit is on, the setting is always indicated by a digit below the appropriate engraved mode.

The Expert Cypres 2 can be identified by the red button.  This AAD has become a indispensable part of any qualified skydiver around the world.

The Speed Cypres 2 can be identified by the red button with the speed label.  Note: The Speed Cypres 2 was designed for extreme canopy piloting.  Unlike the Expert Cypres, the Speed Cypres ceases operation below 330 feet.  It also has a higher activation speed of 96 mph (as opposed to the Expert Cypres' 78 mph).  If you are an extreme swooper, you may want to consider this model of Cypres.  Click here for more information on this topic.

The Student Cypres 2 can be identified by the yellow button with the student label.  The activation altitude is higher compared to the Expert CYPRES 2 and is set for 1000 feet /300 meters.  If the descent rate is approximately 78mph, the Student Cypres 2 will activate at approximately 750feet.  If the descent rate is slower than this but still above 29mph (such as a partially opened main parachute scenario), the unit will activate at approximately 1000feet, giving the student ample time to prepare for landing.  Please be aware that it is possible to reach 29mph under a perfectly good main canopy, so this model is recommended for student use only.

The Tandem Cypres 2 can be identified by the blue button with the Tandem imprint.  Airtec developed a special AAD for your tandem jump that lets you benefit from their reliable safety and quality, even with a passenger on board: the Tandem CYPRES 2.
